There is greater concern for Health and its management today in view of the stressful life that we live. In India, issue of health and its management gets further complicated due to rapidly burgeoning population exerting tremendous pressure on existing health infrastructure, thus proving it to be inadequate. Traditionally the health infrastructure in India has been under government control, but for the last few years, private sector participation in health management is on the rise. To meet the challenges of this fast expanding sector, there is a need for a large number of trained health professionals. The Post Graduate Programme in Hospital Management attempts to train students for management of this sector and its services and aims at: 1. Enhancing student’s understanding of hospital and health care issues and administration. 2. Providing insight into functioning of various departments in a health care organization and linking it to management concepts and principles. 3. Developing skills and competencies for effectively managing a hospital. 4. Enabling students to increase their knowledge base and expertise and apply them to their intended management roles. 5. Fostering development of student’s own personality, confidence and abilities as a manager and a leader. Course Duration: 15 months of classroom teaching. In that, 9 months of training (02 months after end of 1st year or term-3, and 07 months at the end of term-4). During the course students will have discussions with Lectures, presentations, case-lets, exercises, games, practical and exposure to current practices. The pedagogy for the course is more student centric. Substantial recourse to field training will be made during the program. |
