TOEFL TIPS for taking the Test
TOEFL

You must bring valid identification and your registration number on test day. You cannot take the test without them.

1.
Valid ID with your name, signature and photograph must have: The same name you used when you registered. Your entire first/given name and entire last/family name and a clear, recent photo. Changes will not be made unless your name is misspelled. Expired documents and copies are not accepted.
2.
Your registration number €” You will get this number when you register. Log in to your online profile, print your registration confirmation with the number on it and bring it to the test center.

IMPORTANT: On the day before the test, check your profile again to see if any changes were made, such as the testing location or starting time.

Valid IDs for testing in your country of citizenship. You must bring one of these:

Passport or driver's license with name, photo and signature State ID issued by the motor vehicle agency with name, photo and signature Military ID with name, photo and signature

Valid IDs for testing outside your country of citizenship. You must bring one of these:

1.
Passport with name, photo and signature
2.
U.S. Military ID card with name, photo and signature.

Valid IDs for testing in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan:

1.
Only valid passports with name, photo and signature are accepted.

Valid IDs for testing in European Union/Schengen Zone countries:

1.
The card must contain your photograph, date of birth, and signature
2.
If your ID is not in English-language letters and the test administrator cannot read the language in which it is written, you may not be permitted to test.
3.
If your ID does not contain your signature, you must present an additional document from the list of supplemental identification documents that does contain your signature

Important Note:

All passports and other IDs must be in English-language letters and have your signature. Please arrive at least 30 minutes early. If you are late, you may not get in and could lose your test fee.
  Your ID may be verified at the test center by: thumb printing, signature comparison, photographing/ videotaping, other forms of electronic ID confirmation.
   If you refuse to have your ID verified, you will not be permitted to take the test and you will forfeit your test fee. If you do not have the required primary ID as described above, you must bring another form of valid ID on test day

Misconduct

When ETS or test center personnel find that there is misconduct in connection with a test, the test taker may be dismissed from the test center, or ETS may decline to score the test or may cancel the test score. Test takers whose scores are canceled because of misconduct will forfeit their test fees.

Plagiarism

ETS reserves the right to cancel scores when: (1) there is evidence that an essay includes text or ideas that are substantially similar to those found in other TOEFL responses, or (2) quotations, paraphrasing, language and ideas are used without attribution from published and unpublished sources. Such responses do not reflect the independent speaking or compositional writing skills that the test seeks to measure.

General Tips

Aspiring applicants can undertake an English language training program which will emphasize on communication using all 4 skills as well as provide integrated knowledge pertaining to reading, listening, writing and speaking.
In order to improve your reading skills you can depend on internet or consider reading lot of books and even newspapers.
While reading scan for information and highlight the key points which are ideally 5 W's and 1 H i.e. who, what, why, where, when and how. Practice this frequently to increase your speed and become habitual of this exercise.
Increase your diction by learning new words every day and make an attempt at sentence formation using the new learned words.
Try to time yourself using a clock watch. Instead of reading the entire passage with concentration try to skim through the entire passage looking for essential facts.
Build a habit of drawing conclusions and making inferences depending upon the meaning of the passage as a whole..

In order to enhance the listening skills you can watch movies and television.
Additionally, it is also a great idea to listen frequently to a wide spectrum of different types of material in numerous subject areas.
Practice pronunciation, focusing on word stress, pauses and intonation patterns.
Work extensively on tenses so as to ensure correct sentence formation.
Learn to write in an organized and coherent manner by identifying one core idea and other points to support that idea before beginning with the essay.
Study the principles of spelling, punctuation, and layout.
